Academic classes focus on building the language skills which students need in university and professional life. A grammar-based approach ensures that students can communicate effectively through both writing and speaking. Just as importantly, high level listening skills are developed through the use of lectures, conversations, and interviews.                                                   

English Express attributes the ongoing success of our students to our small class sizes: Seven students is the maximum size of any class and the typical class size is four to five students.

English Express offers all levels of Academic English. We teach the following skills.

  • Grammar: standard usage; practice in speaking & writing
  • Writing: various essay formats, organization & support of main points
  • Listening: conversations, interviews, lectures
  • Speaking: Theme-based conversations, presentations, debates
  • Idioms: Embedded in reading & listening
  • Vocabulary: structured-speaking exercises to practice new  words
  • Pronunciation: modeling, repetition, physiology of sound formation
  • Test taking skills: multiple choice & essay tests
  • Class size: Fewer than six students
